Hi, I’m Eske (Romée), founder of ROMEE for women, a health scientist (MSc) and certified therapist, specialised in Women’s Health.
Besides my academic and clinical experience, I’ve had my own battle with hormonal issues, so I understand how you feel.
Having treated women in my own practice and seeing how much lifestyle — in the broadest sense of the word — can help women alleviate and overcome hormonal symptoms, I'm even more eager to spread the word and help as many women as I can.
After seeing hundreds of women with hormonal complaints in the gynecology department, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I thought: the contraceptive pill and advice to lose weight cannot be the solution for everyone and everything. I noticed that many remained frustrated with questions about how lifestyle and underlying factors contribute to their complaints.
During my studies (MSc in Health Sciences: Nutrition at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), I became fascinated by how the human body works. I took a minor in neuroscience and eventually specialised in nutrition. Simultaneously, I worked for years in a medical clinic for gynecology and dermatology, where I assisted doctors, analyzed lab tests, and held my own consultation hours.
At the same time, I realized that health is more than just diet and exercise. To expand my knowledge and become a certified therapist, I started another four-year study and explored how psychology (thoughts, feelings, and emotions), nutrition, exercise, and the social environment influence health and disease.
